How does the MTA-GTS select apprentices and trainees?

MTA-GTS conducts pre-apprenticeship and traineeship testing throughout the year. This test consists of numeracy, applied reading and standard progressive matrices.
Having passed the written test the applicant is then interviewed to assess their suitability to the industry.

Can the host employer meet an MTA-GTS apprentice/trainee before being hosted to their business?

Yes, the MTA-GTS Apprenticeship Coordinators work closely with host employers to find a suitable applicant.

Who pays the apprentice/trainee?

The MTA-GTS pays the apprentice/trainee fortnightly. The apprentice/trainee is required to complete a timesheet supplied by the MTA-GTS which is signed by the host employer to confirm the hours are correct. The timesheet is then faxed to the MTA-GTS payroll department for processing.
